Survivors of Human Trafficking

At Ohio Sex Abuse Lawyers, we are passionately dedicated to seeking justice for victims of human trafficking. Our unwavering commitment lies in holding both businesses and organizations accountable for their role in facilitating or harboring individuals who are forced, deceived, or coerced into performing unimaginable sexual acts against their will. We firmly believe that justice goes beyond the traffickers, and encompasses those who enable, profit from, or turn a blind eye to these horrific crimes. With empathy and legal expertise, we stand by survivors, fighting for their rights and tirelessly advocating for systemic changes to ensure that no one else becomes a victim. Together, we can create a society where human trafficking is eradicated, and all individuals are free from the chains of exploitation.

What is Human Trafficking?

Sex trafficking is defined as “the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for the purposes of a commercial sex act in which the commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion or in which the person is under 18.” (Trafficking Victim’s Protection Act). Force involves physical assault, sexual assault, isolation, or confinement. Coercion includes threats of violence, arrest, deportation, or bondage. A commercial sex act is any act on account of anything of value given to or received by any person. Victims of sex trafficking include all races, genders, and nationalities.

Don’t Be a Victim

Traffickers skillfully exploit the vulnerability of their victims through the exertion of power and control, employing a variety of insidious tactics. Often, the promise of money and drugs is employed as a cunning enticement, luring unsuspecting individuals into the treacherous world of trafficking. These perpetrators go to great lengths to condition their victims through a range of heinous acts, such as subjecting them to starvation, merciless confinement, physical abuse, rape, unrelenting threats, and the manipulative use of drugs and alcohol—creating a twisted cycle of dependence. Psychological shaming adds another layer to this complex web of manipulation. Particularly susceptible to the clutches of trafficking are teenagers and children, who find themselves especially vulnerable to becoming unwilling victims. It is crucial to recognize that trafficking assumes various sinister forms, penetrating even the darkest corners of society. Beyond prostitution, it encompasses forced labor, domestic servitude, coerced or forced commercial sex, stripping, pornography, and, unimaginably, even the abhorrent practice of human organ harvesting.

We go after the facilitators.

Traffickers, cunning and resourceful, resort to utilizing a multitude of avenues - hotels, buses, trains, boats, and various other means - to coerce and manipulate their victims into engaging in unspeakable acts of sexual exploitation. At Ohio Sex Abuse Lawyers, our unwavering commitment extends far beyond merely holding the individual perpetrators accountable for their heinous actions. Instead, we possess an unyielding determination to seek justice for our deserving clients by targeting the very businesses and organizations that either permit or turn a blind eye to the pervasive and abhorrent practice of human trafficking within their premises.
